Talent search program to offer life skills to amateur players

Laurence Griffin, one of the three coaches from Chelsea FC, says the Shield-Chelsea talent search program will not only help the amateur players to develop their tactical elements of football but will also offer them life skills.

Griffin and his colleagues, Steve O’Reilly and Freddie Myers, arrived in the country on Tuesday to assess thirty-five players before picking the best one who will fly to London and train with Chelsea legends.

“We have a club ambition to be the best football team both on and off the pitch, so we are looking to develop qualities that these young men will not only use on the football field but can also take them into their everyday lives,” said Griffin.

“We are talking about things like team-work, leadership, motivators and people who can provide help to their teammates.

“Yes, we will be looking for the tactical and technical elements of the game, but also the human qualities of these young players as well.”
