Official: Kaitano Tembo appointed SuperSport United head coach

SuperSport have officially appointed Kaitano Tembo as their new substantive head coach.

Tembo signed a two-year deal with the Pretoria based side. He was in charge of the team on an interim basis since the departure of Eric Tinkler in March.

After signing the contract, Tembo said the appointment is one of the proudest moments of his life.

“I’m honoured by the confidence the club has shown in me in giving me this great opportunity,” he said.

“This Club has been the center of my life for almost 20 years and I and my players will give everything we have to keep our run of success going.”

Club chairman Khulu Sibiya predicted a tough challenge for the former Zimbabwe international but promised to give him all the support.

“It’s a great challenge for Kaitano because he knows we have high standards at the Club. We will all rally behind him to deliver success because above all its a team effort,”said Sibiya.

Tembo who has been an assistant coach at the club for several years oversaw the preparations for the new 2018-19 season and will face Cape Town City on Saturday in his first assignment.

His charges will return to action on Wednesday when they host AmaZulu at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
