Zim players abroad round-up

Players based abroad returned to action as the 2018-19 season began.

Knowledge Musona made his second appearance for Anderlecht during Match-day two of the Belgian Pro League.

The Warriors skipper joined the side in May and came on as a 75th-minute substitute in 5-2 win over his former team, KV Oostende. He assisted the 4th goal which was scored by Ivan Santini.

Marvelous Nakamba who also plays in Belgium for Club Brugge did not feature over the weekend.

The 24-year-old midfielder only returned to full training last week after recovering from a knee injury which had sidelined him for eleven weeks. Nakamba’s coach decided not to include him in the squad since the player needed some time to bond with others.

Also missing the action due to an injury was Tinotenda Kadewere who is expected to recover early next month after sustaining an injury during training.

He is now with a new club Le Havre AC, which plays in France’s Ligue 2 after leaving Swedish side, Djurgårdens IF two weeks ago.

In the UK, Tendayi Darikwa played the whole ninety minutes for Nottingham Forest in the season opener against Bristol City on Saturday.

Striker Macauley was also in action on the same day as Leyton Orient secured a 1-1 draw at Salford City on the first day of their National Football League campaign while full-back Adam Chicksen was in the first XI when Bradford City beat Shrewsbury 1-0 in a Football League One encounter.

Celtic’s Kundai Benyu did not make it into the squad that won 3-1 on Saturday. The youngster was on loan during the second half of the previous season and joined his parent club in July.

Costa Nhamoinesu played the entire game as AC Sparta Prague won the third league match of the new season.

In China, Nyasha Mushekwi missed out when his Dalian Yifang cruised to a 1-0 victory on Sunday.
