Aspiring ZIFA presidential candidate withdraws from the race

Aspiring ZIFA presidential candidate Patrick Hokonya has withdrawn himself from the race.

Hokonya was the first man to openly declare his candidature in April. The ZIFA elections are scheduled for on December 1.

According to The Herald, the 45-year-old said he doesn’t think he will be able to meet demands of running the association.

“I just recently moved to Harare and I am trying to establish my business, and I don’t think I will give football the attention that it deserves,” said Hokonya.

“I think there is a need to let those that have both the capacity and the time to run the game do so, and I am ready to offer my support to them.”

The ZIFA assembly which comprises of 58 delegates will vote for a president, vice-president and four executive committee members. The Presidential post is currently held by Philip Chiyangwa.
