‘Amazing’ Billiat too good for South African league: Chiefs coach

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas believes Khama Billiat is the best player in the ABSA Premiership and has the capacity of playing in Europe.

The 27-year-old winger who joined the Soweto Giants from Mamelodi Sundowns in July reportedly snubbed several offers to play overseas, opting to stay in South Africa.

Since his arrival at Chiefs, Billiat has rediscovered his top form, bagging the Man of the match award on his debut league game before netting his first goal last weekend during the MTN8 encounter.

“For me, he is an amazing player,” Solinas told The Star, a South African newspaper.

“A top player. In my opinion, and I don’t want this to be misunderstood as disrespect for other players, he is the best player in the league, the best striker.

“Billiat, in my opinion, can play in Europe without a problem. This guy is not for this league. He can perform very well in Europe and comfortably.”

The Italian gaffer also said it’s a privilege for him to be coaching Billiat.

“It’s an honour. This player makes the difference,” Solinas said.

“I am very happy that I have this player in my squad, and I am glad I was asked the question so that I can talk about him.”
