FC Platinum thrash Rovers as Dynamos beat Bulawayo City

FC Platinum scored a half-dozen goals against Mutare City in a match played at Mandava Stadium on Saturday.

Rodwell Chinyengetere netted a hattrick while Farai Madhananga got a brace in the 6-0 victory.

Rovers started well in opening three minutes but found themselves behind in the fifth minute when Ali Sadiki struck from outside the box after Rahman Kutsanzira set him up. Chinyengetere followed up with the hosts’ second goal on minute ten before Madhananga made it three on the halfway point of the first period.

Madhananga completed his brace on the half-hour mark. The visitors were forced to make a substitution a few moments later with a hope of avoiding more damage.

However, they conceded another one with four minutes to the break when Chinyengetere fired home from a range.

The game went to halftime with FC Platinum leading 5-0.

The second period had a slow start as the home team seemed to have drawn back to play more defensively.

With ten minutes left on the clock, Mutare City got a chance to get a consolation after the referee awarded them a penalty. Watch Mafa stepped up but his kick was saved by the keeper.

Chinyengetere soon rounded up the triumph in the injury time as FC Platinum opened a seven-point lead at the top.

At Barbourfields, Dynamos beat Bulawayo City 2-1 in front of a sizeable crowd.

Denver Mukamba was the star man as he caused all sorts of trouble to Amakhosi’s back line. He was hacked down on his way to goal in the 19th minute. Ocean Mushure took the set piece perfectly and Quality Kangadze made no mistake to connect it, putting the Glamour Boys in front.

City were reduced to ten men in the 38th minute when Sipho Ndlovu received a straight red card following a crude challenge on Mushure.

Dembare’s lead doubled five minutes into the second half courtesy of Mukamba’s effort.

The home team, however, cut the deficit on the hour when Crispen Ncube struck home a free-kick.

Bulawayo City kept on the pressure hoping they could get the equaliser but Dynamos held on and the game ended 2-1.

In Harare, Yadah lost 1-2 against Chicken Inn. Wilson Chakanyuka sent The Stars in front on minute 67 but the advantage was cancelled out by Joe Nyabinde in the 77th minute before the Gamecocks got a last minute winner.

Harare City played to a goalless draw against Herentals while Sylvester Appiah scored a solitary goal as ZPC Kariba edged out Shabanie Mine at Nyamhunga Stadium.
