Chidzambwa speaks on injuries in Warriors squad

National team coach Sunday Chidzambwa says he is not worried to miss some of his stars due to injuries when the Warriors play Congo in the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers this Sunday.

A couple of players were dropped from the squad including midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, defender Coast Nhamoinesu, Ovidy Kararu and Tinotenda Chibharo. Khama Billiat is also carrying an injury and will need to pass a fitness test to travel to Brazzaville.

But the squad has been boosted by the availability of Nyasha Mushekwi. ZIFA had announced last week that the Chinese based striker was not available for the encounter after picking up an knock.

Speaking at the team’s first training held at the National Sports Stadium on Tuesday, Chidzambwa believes the changes to the squad will not affect his game plan as they have brought in perfect replacements.

“I think we have some replacements for those who are injured and they are going to cope,” said Chidzambwa.

“They (Congo) are one of the strongest sides in Africa, so we are expecting a tough encounter. We only hope to play hard and bring home a good result.”

Zimbabwe currently lead Group G with three points while Congo are in third with no points.
