Chidzambwa desperate for Britain-based players

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa is desperate to have the Zimbabwean players born in foreign countries in his squad for next month’s back-to-back AFCON Qualifiers games against DRC.

The national team will return to action on the 10th of October before playing the return leg in Harare three days later, and the likes of Tendayi Darikwa and Adam Chicksen are yet to acquire local passports.

The duo together with German-based Kelly Lunga was named in the provisional squad for Congo Brazzaville encounter played last Sunday but failed to have their documents sorted on time.

“We definitely need those players,” Chidzambwa told NewsDay.

“All the areas need to be improved; the defence, the midfield and attack. We have to fight hard, soldier on, fight for 90 minutes and try to get a good result, especially in the away game. We will take each game as it comes. All we need to do is to qualify to play at the finals in Cameroon.”

The Warriors are leading Group G log standings with four points while DRC is second with the same number of points but with less goal difference.
