William Manondo’s first-half goal ensured defending champions Harare City progressed to the quarterfinals of the 2018 Chibuku Super Cup.

The Sunshine Boys beat Bulawayo City 1-0 in a match played at Rufaro Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Manondo fired home in the 23rd minute in what was the Harare side’s first attempt on target in the game. Amakhosi had a few more chances but failed to get an equaliser before the break.

The scoreline remained unchanged in the second half as the defending champions qualified to the next round.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo City have now conceded nine consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Action will continue tomorrow with four games lined up.
