PSL propose change of season calendar

The Premier Soccer League has submitted a letter to the national football body ZIFA proposing the change of the local season calendar.

At an Extraordinary General Meeting held over the weekend, the PSL come up with a resolution to align its calendar with that of CAF.

The CAF season now begins in November and runs into the following year.

The local campaign usually starts around March and ends in December. The proposal seeks to change these dates and move the opening week of the season to around August.

The last time the league adopted such calendar was in 1998/99 season. The implantation was unsuccessful and they reverted back to the old one.

Clubs will submit written reports on the state of preparedness in terms of infrastructure, human resources and any challenge that need to be addressed in line with the proposal.

Meanwhile, the PSL also come up with other resolutions at the EMG including setting up of comprehensive Stadium Security and Disaster Management Manuals to ensure safety and security at football matches, a Standard Player Contract that is meant to create favourable working conditions between football players and clubs, and the implementation of Club Licensing.
