Bantu Rovers Academy drops junior sides

Bantu Rovers Academy has announced a plan to streamline its operations to improve efficiency and better serve its participants.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the chief executive officer, Methembe Ndlovu has stated that they will be discarding their juniors next year.

“Beginning 2019 the academy will focus its energies on its Division Two side, which competes in the Bulawayo Province Division Two and re-assign all players Under the age of 18. Some of the junior players will be promoted to the Division Two side while the junior age groups will be under new management,” said Ndlovu.

The move is aimed at unlocking opportunities to enable the student-athlete participants to pursue viable paths in further education, professional football and other vocations.

“We realise not every youth player is going to be a professional footballer and our objective is to help our players to prepare for viable lives in and outside football,” Ndlovu added.

The Bantu Rovers Academy separated from former Premier Soccer League outfit, Bantu Rovers, last year to become an independent entity.
