Official: Rahman Gumbo, Witbank Spurs part ways

South African side Witbank Spurs has officially parted ways with coach Rahman Gumbo.

Gumbo was placed on “special leave” last week after a string of poor results. He joined the team ahead of the 2018/19 season.

The club announced the news in a statement posted on Facebook this morning.

“Witbank Spurs would like to confirm that we officially parted ways with our head coach Rahman Gumbo.

“We wish him all the best in his future aspirations,” reads the statement.

Assistant coach Vusi Mkhatshwa is in charge on an interim basis.

Meanwhile, Gumbo has been heavily linked with Dynamos since the news of his sacking emerged a few days ago.

The Harare Giants are understood to have considered the 54-year-old as another potential replacement for coach Lloyd Mutasa who was fired last week.

In the meantime, Lloyd Chigowe and Murape Murape have been tasked to save Dembare from relegation. The Glamour Boys are currently in the drop zone with six games left.
