Madinda blames defence for Chibuku exit

Highlanders manager Madinda Ndlovu lamented lapses in concentration in his team’s 2-0 defeat to Harare City in the Chibuku Super Cup at Rufaro stadium.

Bosso conceded two quick goals in the first half having failed to capitalise on early momentum in which they missed a penalty through Adrian Silla.

“We conceded two soft goals, the two defenders failing to mark and the goalkeeper allowing a ball in at the near post. In football, we say its a crime to concede from a near post and the goalkeeper must have done better there. Again on the second goal, the defence allowed the striker a free header. From there, I knew we were going to lose the match because for me that was the turning point after we had missed a penalty,” said Ndlovu.

“But I am pleased though with the performance of my players. I picked some positives because the fighting spirit was there despite being down and forced to chase the game.”

Harare City who are the most successful team in the tournament since its return in 2014, got their goals from Wilfred Muvirimi and William Manondo.
