Club Brugge, Anderlecht in match-fixing scandals

Anderlecht and Club Brugge are among Belgian clubs that are under investigation for alleged fraud and match-fixing.

Several Belgian football figures have been arrested including Club Brugge coach Ivan Leko and well-known football agent Mogi Bayat.

The investigation began at the end of 2017 following a report by the police’s sports fraud unit after there was an indication of “suspicious” transactions in professional Belgian football. The authorities believe the top teams influenced competitions during the 2017-18 season.

The police also seized contracts at Standard Liege headquarters involving players Obbi Oulare, Michel Preudhomme and Dino Arslanagic that were all linked to Bayat.

Nothing has been said of Club Brugge’s Marvelous Nakamba and Knowledge Musona who made a transfer from KV Oostende to Anderlecht at the end of last season.
