My performance is improving: Nakamba

Belgium based midfielder Marvelous Nakamba says playing in competitive tournaments like the Uefa Champions League has improved his performance on the field.

The 24-year-old who plays for Club Brugge made his Champions League debut early this month against Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to the Standard Sport, Nakamba said: “I think I am getting the experience I need to improve myself playing in the Uefa Champions League with Brugge.

“To get better as a footballer you need to play against those big teams like Atletico Madrid. My champions’ league debut was fantastic playing against Griezman, Diego Costa, Thomas Lemar and the experience was very good.”

Nakamba was also part of the Warriors squad that played DRC in back-to-back Afcon Qualifiers during the international break. He believes the 1-2 away victory and the 1-1 home draw were a mere statement to everyone who underestimated Zimbabwe.

“Motivation in the matches against the DRC was easy. Everyone never gave us a chance, so we just told ourselves that we have to prove those people who are underestimating us,” he added.
