Katsande delighted with call-up

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande is delighted to be back in the national team setup after more than a year on the sidelines following an ill-advised retirement.

Katsande who expressed willingness to come out of retirement a few weeks ago has been included in the Warriors team to face Liberia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month.

The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder quit the Warriors in a huff last year after a first-round exit at the last edition of the Nations Cup in Gabon but claims that a number of influential people including Chiefs owner, Kaizer Motaung talked him into rescinding his decision.

“I am happy to be back with the Warriors. I have a lot of people who talked me into considering coming back because they felt I still have a lot to offer. They feel that my experience is still needed at the national team level. Also it’s cold out there, so you would always want to be part of the national team,” said Katsande.

Also called up by Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa is Dynamos goalkeeper Simbarashe Chinani.
