I want more titles: Mapeza

Norman Mapeza is still hungry for more titles after guiding FC Platinum to their second league championship in two seasons, beating rivals Shabanie 1-0 at Maglas Stadium on Sunday.

Pure Platinum Play needed just a point to seal the triumph, but Devon Chafa put the icing on the cake with a goal in the second half.

The victory saw Mapeza breaking another record by becoming the first coach to win back-to-back league titles with a team from outside Harare and Bulawayo. Last year, he guided the Zvishavane-based side to their first league championship and also becoming the first club, after independence, to win the league title outside the two major cities.

“I want to win titles, title after title. I was not able to win titles during my playing days, so I want to win as many as possible,” said Mapeza.

“I want to thank the fans, the executive, the technical team as well as my family for their support. Without their support, this was not going to be possible.”

This is the third league honour for Mapeza after winning his first with Monomotapa in his first year as head coach.
