S.A based Zim players round-up

As the Warriors prepare to take on Liberia next week in the Afcon qualifiers, we look at how the South African based players in squad performed over the weekend.

Orlando Pirates utility player Marshall Munetsi played the entire match in a goalless draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 22-year-old has been getting more game time at his club since the October international. He has been in top form, and on Saturday he put on a splendid performance while playing as one of the three centre-backs.

Evans Rusike started for SuperSport United and created the only goal of the match against Free State Stars. The striker was making his second appearance after recovering from a foot injury which ruled him out of the national team’s back-to-back encounters against DRC last month.

He played the whole ninety minutes.

Goalkeeper George Chigova managed to keep a clean sheet in Polokwane City’s 0-0 against Amazulu but the second choice, Edmore Sibanda conceded despite his team winning 2-1 against Ajax Cape Town.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande played against Chippa United but defender Teenage Hadebe was an unused substitute. Hadebe only featured in the midweek fixture against Black Leopards where Billiat and Katsande also had some game time.

Talent Chawapiwa (Baroka) and Ronald Pfumbidzai (Bloem Celtic) started for their teams while Ovidy Karuru (AmaZulu) and Knox Mutizwa (Golden Arrows) came on as second-half substitutes.
