Matawu, Dube slams PSL

Local football veterans Clemence Matawu and Mkhokheli Dube have slammed the Premier Soccer League for banning private filming of the league games.

PSL gave exclusive broadcasting rights to ZBC at the start of the season, but the national broadcaster has failed to deliver better standards. A few matches are covered during a single matchday, and mostly, it’s one game which is shown on Sunday.

Matawu who plays for Chicken Inn expressed his views on Twitter where he heavily criticised the league’s decision and also urged the authorities to bring back video coverage.

FC Platinum’s Dube weighed in, saying it will also be difficult for players to identify where there should improve.

PSL had a six-year exclusive deal with SuperSport which expired last year where private filming was also not allowed. However, the condition was waived in 2016 after a unanimous call by the clubs and recording of matches was permitted “as long as it was for coaching and technical committee use only.”
