- Zimbabwe dominated possession through out the first half with Marvelous Nakamba winning more balls on the midfield. They created some good chances with Tinotenda Kadewere failing to hit the target after getting two glorious opportunities. Liberia also made some attacks but never brought any threat towards keeper Edmore Sibanda as the defence remained disciplined.

43′ Kadewere beats his marker into the box with Musona and Karuru in space but he decides to shot on goal and goes wide.
41′ A through ball to Musona who is unmarked but takes long to take action and keeper collects the ball.
