CAF has made an urgent request to the South African Football Association (Safa) to step in as emergency hosts of the 2019 African Nations Cup.
This is after the continental football body stripped Cameroon of the right to host the tournament finals due to delays in preparations and security concerns.
SAFA president Danny Jordaan confirmed the request on Sunday, and the matter was discussed at an AGM in Sandton.
However, Jordaan said that a decision will only be made after the SA government’s approval and support.
