Murimba brace gives Young Warriors winning start

Zimbabwe U-20 team began its Cosafa campaign with a 2-1 victory over Botswana on Monday afternoon.

Triangle United forward Delic Murimba scored a brace as the Young Warriors claim the top spot in Group C with three points while Lesotho and Angola follow with a point each.

Murimba opened the scoring as early as in the 2nd minute. Tatenda Tumba could have doubled the advantage a few moments after the half hour, but his volley went straight to hit the crossbar.

Botswana regrouped and managed to salvage a goal before the break when Resaobaka Thatanyane equalised on minute 44.

The second period had a cagey start with neither side making clear-cut chances.

However, it was Murimba who separated the teams again when he found the back of the net in the 72nd minute.

Zimbabwe held on to their lead for the remainder of the game as they collect maximum points in their first match. They face Lesotho on Wednesday in the second Group C encounter.
