ZIFA Elections: FIFA to send observers

FIFA will send a delegation that will oversee the ZIFA elections set for 16 December.

The world football body revealed this in a letter sent to Felton Kamambo who will contest against Philip Chiyangwa in the presidential polls.

Kamambo had approached FIFA after he was initially barred from taking part in the elections. He also asked for the federation’s intervention saying he no longer has confidence in the Electoral Committee.

“We would like to seize this opportunity to inform you that FIFA will deploy a delegation to Harare to observe the electoral proceedings,” said FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura in the letter.

Samoura also refuted allegations that the FIFA Director for Africa and Caribbean Region, Veron Mosengo-Omba would be in any way compromised or partial with regards to the upcoming Zifa elections.
