It’s a sweet victory: Bekithemba Ndlovu

Zimbabwe U20 team coach Bekithemba Ndlovu says the semifinal encounter against Zambia on Tuesday was tough but is happy his charges managed a win from that match.

The Young Warriors beat the hosts 1-2 to reach the COSAFA U20 Championship for the first time in eleven years. Triangle United striker Delic Murimba scored the winner to complete a come back after captain Andrew Mbeba had cancelled out Zambia’s lead.

“It’s a sweet victory against the host nation Zambia. It’s always not easy playing the hosts and Zambia is a good team, either of us could have gone to the final,” Ndlovu said.

“Maybe luck was on our side today, and we managed to beat Zambia, but they are not a bad team, they are not a bad side. They gave us good competition, we fought for the victory, and I am happy for my boys they put up a good show.”

Zimbabwe will play defending Champions South Africa in the final on Thursday and kick-off is at 3 pm.
