Ex-employs take Zifa to FIFA

Ex-Zifa employees have petitioned FIFA Secretary General Ms Fatma Samoura to intervene in their stand-off with the association over unpaid dues.

The former staff claims that they were dismissed unfairly after Philip Chiyangwa’s administration locked them out of the ZIFA premises at 53 Livingstone Avenue before the head offices were moved to 160 Enterprise Rd in June 2016.

Following the dismissals, the former workers took their case to the Labour Court where ZIFA was ordered to pay them $195,818-72 in salary arrears by the 28th of September 2017.

However, by end of the year, nothing was paid despite the association claiming that it has settled all debts.

The employees also allege that ZIFA has even gone further to misrepresent the Labour Court ruling (Custen Pikweli and Others vs ZIFA) in Note 13 Contingencies of the ZIFA Consolidated Financial Statements for the Year Ended 31 December 2017.
