FC Platinum on the brink of history

FC Platinum stand on the threshold of writing another piece of history by becoming the first club outside Harare to reach the mini-league phase of the African champions league.

The Zimbabwe champions need at least a goalless draw against Congolese side Otoho D’oyo to progress following a crucial away point in the first leg played last Sunday. William Sitima scored the all-important goal from a free kick as it ended 1-1.

“We are motivated by the harsh treatment we received in Congo because there it was us against the world. During the match we were against the wall, the match officiating was so bad, and we spend most of the time concentrating on officiating rather than on Otoho itself,” said Mapeza.

“We are not getting carried away because of the scoreline we got in Congo. But we are quite optimistic about finishing them off.”

FC Platinum are likely to field the same team that did duty in Congo. The match will be played in Mandava and kick-off is at 3 pm.
