Samanja retires, Gaki and Mpelele leaves Harare City

Malvin Gaki and Pritchard Mpelele have left Harare City while captain Tendai Samanja has retired from playing football.

Samanja will take up a coaching post at the club’s developmental side, Sunshine Boys in Division Two. The 32-year-old helped Harare-based side win the Chibuku Super Cup in 2015 and 2017 and led the team to silver medals in 2014 and 2018 in the same competition. He joined the club in 2015 from Caps United.

Gaki who arrived at City in 2017 from Triangle United did not renew his contract when it expired at the end of 2018. The striker was one of the most consistent players in the squad.

Mpelele who also joined the Harare City at the same time from Hwange was released from his contract together with other five players.

These include Protasho Kabwe, Bright Chayambuka, Tinashe Balakasi, Grey Kufandada and Munyaradzi Sako.

However, Harare Cityhave since added former Dynamos skipper Marshall Machazane, Milton Ncube of Caps United, Walter Mukanga (Ngezi Platinum) and Colins Mujuru (Aces)
