Banda pleads innocent, accuses Kamambo

Suspended Zifa vice president Gift Banda has accused his superior Felton Kamambo of insincerity.

The association boss was relieved of his duties early this month after he made new appointments in the Warriors technical team without consulting the Executive Committee. He replaced assistant coaches Rahman Gumbo and Lloyd Mutasa with Tonderai Ndiraya and Bongani Mafu.

Giving his side of the story on Thursday, Banda, however, said Kamambo was in the know of the appointments and was shocked to hear that he had acted unconstitutionally.

“It boggles the mind that people would seat to deliberate on such an issue when everyone was in the know of what was happening. The president himself was even quoted in the press saying that he had met Sunday Chidzambwa and assured him that his job was safe,” said Banda.

“It was also unconstitutional because the 14-day notice for the board meeting that suspended me was not followed. When I had the meeting with the secretary general ( Joseph Mamutse) as a person in the know of the constitution, he should have reminded me if I erred unless he was acting in bad faith to make Zifa look bad and bring it into disrepute,” added Banda.
