Akbay jets in, eyes league title

New Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Erol Akbay is happy to return to the country and is targeting to win the championship with the Mhondoro-based side.

The Dutch gaffer, who delayed his arrival due to some logistical challenges, jetted in the country yesterday.

According to the Chronicle, Akbay said: “I am happy to be back in this country as I was away for some years now. Good things are coming. I am very happy to be here.

“Every time you start with a new club, it’s always exciting. That means as a new coach, you come, you see a new team with new players and then you start afresh.

“That is why it’s always exciting. Ngezi Platinum Stars are fighters and they want to win the championship.”

Akbay, a former Highlanders coach, will work along with Cosmas Zulu and Tendai Chikuni in his technical department, dropping Clifton Kadurira and Gift Muzadzi who have been in charge of the team since the sacking of Tonderai Ndiraya late last year.
