Vietnam Stand to be named after George Shaya

Dynamos great George Shaya is to have a stand named after him at Rufaro Stadium in recognition of his contribution to the club and the national team.

The Mayor of City Harare Herbert Gomba said on Friday the Vietnam Stand would be renamed in honour of the 72-year old football legend.

Shaya, the most decorated player in the history of the top flight division, won the Soccer Star of the Year award on a record five times including the inaugural award in 1969 and went on to bag the accolade in 1972 and three times in a row from 1975 to 1977.

The Vietnam Stand houses Dembare’s most vocal supporters when the team is playing at Rufaro Stadium.
