CAF CL Preview: FC Platinum vs Horoya AC

FC Platinum will be looking to enhance their chances of reaching the knockout stage of CAF Champions League when they host Horoyo AC of Guinea this afternoon at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

The Zimbabwe champions are yet to pick up a win in Group B after drawing against Orlando Pirates in their first match and then followed up with a loss to reigning African champions Esperance two weeks ago. Their opponents are also desperate for a victory and sit on one point in the group.

Coach Norman Mapeza will turn to veteran striker Charles Sibanda for goals as the platinum miners have struggled up front following the departure of Soccer Star of the Year Rodwell Chinyengetere who joined South Africa Premiership side, Baroka FC at the end of December.

Captain and goalkeeper Petros Mhari is also expected to start while Kevin Moyo and Gift Bello are likely to pair up in the central defence with Kelvin Madzongwe and Devon Chafa at the heart of the midfield.

The west Africans, on the other hand, are coming from a 4-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates and are also desperate for a win. They jetted in the country seven days ago and set up camp in Harare before travelling to Bulawayo on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 3 pm Zimbabwean time.

Meanwhile, in another Group B clash, Pirates will host Esperance at Orlando Stadium later in the evening.
