FC Platinum lose to Horoya at home

FC Platinum’s chances of reaching the knockout stages of the CAF Champions League were dealt a huge blow when they lost 1-0 to Horoya of Guinea at home on Saturday.

The Zimbabwe champions who were coming from another defeat at the hands of Esperance were outclassed in all departments especially in the first half. They only created three chances before the break, and all of them went off target.

The visitors made seven attempts at goal but did not bring much trouble to the goalkeeper Petros Mhari.

They continued to dominate the pace in the second period and were rewarded with a penalty in the 51st minute which was converted by Maurice Assoko. Horoya almost doubled the lead in the last quarter hour of the game, but a superb save by Mhari denied them another goal.

The hosts tried to come back in the game, but nothing came out of it. Substitute Albert Eonde blew away a glorious chance which could have levelled the terms a few moments before the final whistle.

The result puts the FC Platinum at the bottom of Group B with no goals scored at this stage of the competition.
