FC Platinum targeting first set of maximum points

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza says his charges are targeting maximum points in today’s CAF Champions League Group B match against Horoya FC.

The Zimbabwe champions are yet to pick up a win in the group phase after drawing against Orlando Pirates in their first match and then followed up with a loss to Esperance two weeks ago. Their opponents are also desperate for a victory and sit on one point in Group B.

In an interview with NewsDay, Mapeza said that they are ready for the encounter scheduled for Barbourfields Stadium. Kick-off time is at 3 pm.

“We are in the same position with Horoya, but now we are playing at home. We need to push if we really want to enhance our chances of progressing in the competition,” Mapeza said.

“We need to win tomorrow (today). So far no complaints, the guys are okay and are raring to go. Games like these sometimes are not about physical appearance, it’s about mental strength. We have come a long way, so it’s now up to the boys, we just have to push hard.”

Meanwhile, in another Group B clash, Orlando Pirates, who clobbered Horoya 4-0 in South Africa, will host African champions Esperance at Orlando Stadium later in the evening.
