Luphahla to have big say on appointment of new TelOne coach

TelOne president Lloyd Mthethwa has revealed that Joel Luphahla will have a big say on who will take over as the head coach at the club.

The Gweru-based side has stepped up its search for a new mentor after Luphahla was forced to step down from his duties ahead of the new season since he does not have a CAF A licence to coach in the Premier Soccer League.

According to The Standard, Mthethwa said: “Joel Luphahla’s recommendations will play a part in finding the right candidate to lead the team.

“At the same time, we will also reassign him to another position within the team because he remains a key part having helped the team gain promotion into the premier league,” he added.

The appointment is expected to be made this week.

Meanwhile, Jairos Tapera has reportedly become the front runner to land the job. Other high-ranking coaches that have been linked with the side include Lloyd Mutasa, Nelson Matongorere and former Warriors coach Clemens Westerhof.
