Billiat hopes for first Soweto Derby victory

Kaizer Chiefs winger Khama Billiat is hoping for a first Soweto Derby victory against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The 28-year old Zimbabwe international joined Amakhosi in July last year and has since featured in two derbies, though in different competitions, but is yet to enjoy a victory. His debut in the fixture came in October in the league where he scored in a 2-1 loss and featured again in the following month in a Telkom Knockout clash which Pirates came top again.

“I’ve already played two derbies and didn’t get positive results,” said Billiat at a Press Conference on Thursday Billiat, according to Mail and Guardian. “I thank God that there’s another opportunity and let’s hope that this time around it will be on our side.

“There’s so much pressure, but on the day it’s how you manage it to be more professional on the day. You can’t panic and do things in a hurry because you haven’t been getting the results. We need to be calm on the day and make the right decisions.”

Chiefs, meanwhile, have lost the last four Soweto Derbies and will be looking to end the streak. Willard Katsande will lead the team in the absence of injured Itumeleng Khune. Defender Teenage Hadebe is still waiting for his debut appearance in the tie along with Pirates’ Kudakwashe Mahachi.

Utility player Marshall Munetsi who featured in the last two derbies is in line to make another dance this weekend.
