Mapeza rues mistakes in Horoya defeat

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has rued the mistakes that led to goals during their CAF Champions League Group B encounter against Horoya in Guinea on Tuesday.

The Zimbabwe champions needed nothing short of a victory to keep their chances of reaching the next round alive but succumbed to a 2-0 defeat that saw them bow out of the competition.

The visitors had managed to hold their opponents in the first half but they conceded in the 57th minute courtesy of Mandela Ocansey with Hudu Yakubu sealing the victory twelve minutes before the final whistle.

“We made two mistakes and got punished. At this level, you cannot afford to make such mistakes.

“It’s a learning curve for us, and now we have to make sure that we do our best in the last two games,” said Mapeza.

FC Platinum are now set to travel to South Africa for a date against Orlando Pirates before finishing their Group B campaign at home against Esperance of Tunisia.
