CAF to use VAR at 2019 Afcon – Report

CAF has reportedly decided to use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations set to be held in Egypt in June.

According to African football journalist, Nuhu Adams, the decision was confirmed on Saturday afternoon.

VAR was first introduced at an international level in 2017 during the FIFA Confederation Cup in June before it was used again at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in October.

The Afcon finals, meanwhile, will start from 21 June and runs until the 19th of July 2019. A total of 24 teams will take part in the competition for the first time in history.
