VAR was first introduced at an international level in 2017 during the FIFA Confederation Cup in June before it was used again at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in October.
The Afcon finals, meanwhile, will start from 21 June and runs until the 19th of July 2019. A total of 24 teams will take part in the competition for the first time in history.
