Mpandare gives foreign-born players ultimatum

Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare says he gave the foreign-born players an ultimatum to submit their papers before Friday if they certainly want to feature for the national team.

Mpandare had revealed a few days ago that some players were not committing themselves to play for the country after they delayed to submit their papers at Zimbabwean embassies for regularisation.

But in an interview with NewsDay, the manager said England-born Bonne had promised to send his papers for processing before the Friday deadline and could be available for the match against Congo Brazzaville.

“I had given the players until today (yesterday) as the deadline for them to submit their papers and give me their commitment,” Mpandare said.

“I have been talking to Macauley Bonne this week, and he has promised to send his papers to our embassy in London. I’m now waiting on him, but as soon as he submits them, then they will be processed in no time.”

The Leyton Orient striker tops the list of the players born abroad that Chidzambwa has publicly stated he is desperate to have in the team. The other players include Germany-based Kelly Lunga, Andy Rinomhota (Reading) and Adam Chicksen (Bradford City).
