S.A club explains why they signed Nkhatha

Mbombela United head coach Milton Dlamini has explained why they decided to sign Zimbabwean striker Kingston Nkhatha.

Nkhatha joined the side as a free agent on an 18-month contract and made his debut in the Nedbank Cup defeat to Cape Umoya United on Friday.

In an interview with KickOff.com, Dlamini said they were in urgent need for a striker that is why they took Nkhatha on board.

“I have lost my two strikers through injuries you see,” he said.

“We looked at somebody who has got the same style as our striker Muzi Zimu. Kingston is a number nine that is strong aerially, and he can finish crosses. We just wanted to duplicate the striker that we have.

“But we needed somebody who was gonna hit the ground running because we didn’t have time to teach the basics to go the near post, to spin around the defender.”

Nkhatha returned to South Africa after a short spell with Dynamos where he had a fallout with the club executive.
