Nakamba paying the price for red card suspension?

Marvelous Nakamba seems to be paying the price for receiving a red card late last month.

The Club Brugge midfielder was sent off moments before the final whistle in the game against KV Oostende on January 27. Since his return from the suspension, he has only featured for seven minutes in five games across all competitions.

Coach Ivan Leko has not given any explanation why he is benching Nakamba but it looks like he was not happy with the red card. The gaffer has received criticism from both the fans and football analysts, but he is not much concerned about that.

However, his choice could force Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa to make some serious consideration on his squad as the player’s lack of game time could affect the game plan for the upcoming 2019 Afcon Qualifier against Congo in Harare.

Zimbabwe lead Group G with eight points and only need at least a point to qualify for the finals that will be held in Egypt in June this year.

Nakamba has played key roles in other qualifying matches. He has also been in top form before his suspension and played in twelve consecutive league games before the ban following his full recovery from a knee injury in October.
