Agent explains why Musona won’t return to S.A anytime soon

Knowledge Musona’s agent Mike Makaab has poured water on constant reports linking the player with a move back to the Absa Premiership.

The striker had a slow start at Anderlecht, a club he joined on a fee reportedly in the region of €2m last year in June. The slump in form saw him fell out favour at the Belgian giants and then agreed to a loan move to Lokeren in January.

But the 28-year-old’s name is regularly linked with a return to Chiefs – where he’s had two spells before.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Makaab explained that the amount that Anderlecht paid for him and the substantial wages that he is on in Europe would prove to be a gigantic roadblock for any South African clubs, including Chiefs. The Belgian side will also not let him go anytime soon as they want to see some return on their investment.

“Look, first and foremost, Knowledge has a long-term contract with Anderlecht once his loan with Lokeren expires, and his long-term goal is to remain at a top level in Europe for as long as possible,” the agent explained.

“We’ll certainly assess things when his loan ends, but coming back to South Africa is not even on his radar at this point in time, and to be honest, it would take huge money to consider doing so.”

Musona has more than three years left to run on his current deal.
