FC Platinum engages CAF

FC Platinum have taken the Confederation of African Football head-on over the shift of the Esperance tie away from their Mandava home ground to Bulawayo.

Caf had initially given a reprieve for Zimbabwe champions to use the venue for the match on Saturday but changed goal posts this week, arguing that there were no accommodation facilities in Zvishavane to host the visitors.

“We are in negotiation with Caf, and we hope they will consider our plea. We believe what they are doing is unfair because we have been preparing for this match knowing that we were going to use Mandava Stadium only to be told a few days before the game that we should move to Bulawayo,” said Chido Chizondo, the club’s spokesperson.

“We have good accommodation facilities here, we have Pote hotel, Runde hotel and as for the Esperance fans we have facilities in nearby Masvingo, Gweru or even Bulawayo.”

FC Platinum played the other two home games at Barbourfields Stadium, where they drew 0-0 against Orlando Pirates before losing 1-0 to Horoya.
