Young Warriors coach Tonderayi Ndiraya is targeting a positive result away in Maputo against Mozambique in the U23 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.
Ndiraya named a seemingly strong squad for the tie, calling in a couple of foreign-based players. The national U23 side has been the near men of African football, impressive on display but failed to qualify for major tournaments.
“I am a victim of the failure to qualify for major tournaments when I was still playing for the U23. I hope that this time around, I break that jinx. With the squad that we have, I am confident that we are going to do it and qualify for the Nations Cup,” said Ndiraya.
The U23 will kick start their campaign against Mozambique on 22 March before the return leg in Harare four days later.
