ZIFA speaks on Warriors’ Umbro kits

ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela says that Umbro is working to fulfil the commitment to avail the new Warriors kits which are expected in the country today.

The association signed a multi-year deal with the English sportswear company last month, reigniting their relationship which had ended five years ago. The deal covers all national teams including the Young Warriors and the Mighty Warriors.

However, there have been concerns of late on the delivery of the consignment, which also should include 50 000 replicas for distribution to the fans. The Warriors and the Young Warriors who will be in action this week are still to get their training and playing kits.

In an interview with the Herald, Gwesela said that everything is under-control but refused to speak on the replica jersey for fans.

“I cannot talk about the replicas at the moment, but the issue of kits is something that is under control,” he said.

“As we speak right now, the kits (for both the Under-23 and the senior teams) are actually on the way, and we expect the deliveries earliest tomorrow (today).”

The Young Warriors are scheduled to leave for Mozambique tomorrow for the U23 second round qualifier while the Warriors host Congo on Sunday.
