Horoya sack coach after leading the team to second-ever CAF CL quarter-final

Horoya AC has sacked head coach Patrice Neveu, two days after guiding the team to its second-ever quarter-final of the CAF Champions League.

The club’ secretary-general Kroutimi Mady Kaba confirmed the sacking on Tuesday evening but didn’t give the reason they parted ways with their French coach.

“Yes it is effective, Horoya AC separates from Patrice Nevue following a meeting that took place at the club headquarters this Tuesday evening. We have separated amicably, we will give a lot of information, this Wednesday (today) at a press briefing,” said Kaba, according to the club’s website.

The Guinean giants were in the same group with Zimbabwean champions FC Platinum whom they beat home and away to consolidate their chances of progressing to the next round.

They went on to defeat South African side Orlando Pirates 2-1 last Saturday to finish the group phase second to defending champions Espérance Sportive de Tunis and booked their place in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Horoya will learn their opponents in the last eight this evening at a draw ceremony set for Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt at 7 pm Zimbabwean time.
