Sunday Preview: CLPSL Match-day 1

CAPS United will begin their 2019 campaign with a date against league debutants Manica Diamonds.

The Green Machine is hoping for a positive start having beefed up the squad with a number of new signings that include former Highlanders pair of Newman Sianchali and Gabriel Nyoni, Blessing Sarupinda (Black Rhinos) and club returnee Phineus Bamusi.

CAPS are also buoyed by the new improved sponsorship package of $700 000 per year they received from NetOne on Friday night.

Manica, though new in the top flight football, will definitely give their opponents run for their money as they have several stars that have league experience. Patson Jaure, Peace Makaha, Wisdom Mutasa and Timere Mamvura, who have all played for Dynamos, are some other notable names on the list of new signings.

The Mutare-based club won promotion into the elite league after winning the Eastern Region championship.

Elsewhere, Ngezi Platinum Stars face Triangle United at Gibbo Stadium in their season opener while Hwange welcome Yadah at the Colliery.

TelOne travel to the capital for their first ever game in the top flight league. They play Herentals at Rufaro Stadium.
