Nyoni and Bamusi brought the spark we lacked last season: Chitembwe

CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe says new signings Gabriel Nyoni and Phineas Bamusi have brought a spark in their attack, something that lacked in the previous season.

Nyoni moved to the Harare giants in the pre-season from Highlanders while Bamusi returned after a year-long stay at Triangle United.

The duo was outstanding in the season opener against Manica Diamonds at National Sports Stadium on Sunday with Nyoni getting involved in the first goal scored by John Zhuwawu and later earned a penalty for his team which Joel Ngodzo converted in the 24th minute.

“They gave us the speed which we didn’t have last season. We weren’t able to finish off our opponents because we just lacked the energy and the speed going forward. I think they did well today and can even do better,” he said.

Makepekepe also fielded a number of their new signings who didn’t disappoint in the Sunday’s 2-0 victory. These include former Dynamos midfielder Valentine Ndaba, Newman Sianchali and Dominic Chungwa who picked up an injury early in the game.
