Edmore Sibanda appointed Witbank Spurs assistant coach

Warriors goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda has been appointed Witbank Spurs assistant coach on an interim basis after the club sacked coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba and his technical team on Tuesday.

Mashaba arrived at Spurs in January with a task to turn around the fortunes of the club. However, a run of poor results saw the team remaining at the bottom of the National First Division log with a risk of getting relegated.

Sibanda along with former central midfielder Vusi Mthimkulu will assist club chairman Themba Mafu who will lead the team against Ajax Cape Town this weekend.

Mafu previously took control of the team in November following the firing of interim coach Vusi Mkhatshwa and exit of Sammy Troughton, who had replaced Zimbabwean and the current Warriors assistant coach Rahman Gumbo.

Here is a statement by Witbank Spurs:

Witbank Spurs FC would like to thank Mr. Ephraim Shakes Mashaba for his hard work during his tenure with our club.

The management of the team has decided to part ways with Mr. Mashaba along with his technical team of assistant coach Tshepo Ntia, Goalkeeper Coach Eugene Etame Soppo and Fitness Trainer Percy Moloi.

On our next upcoming game against Ajax Cape Town we will be lead by our chairman Mr. Themba Mafu as interim coach, audibly assisted by our former central midfielder Vusi Mthimkulu and current goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda as our goalkeeper coach.
