Too early to count us out of the title race, says Madinda

Highlanders technical director Madinda Ndlovu has admitted his team had a poor performance against Harare City on Saturday but warned that it’s too early to rule them out of the title race.

Bosso surrendered a one-goal advantage to lose 3-1 and finished the match with ten men after defender McClive Phiri received his second booking in an incident that led to a penalty which Walter Mukanga failed to convert in the last quarter hour of the game.

City got their goals from Munyaradzi Diro-Nyenye, Mukanga and Tatanda Tumba while Prince Dube gave the visitors a consolation.

Speaking after the match, Madinda said the score margin could have been greater if their hosts had converted most of the chances they created.

“I should admit we gave it away very cheaply, the scoreline is not a correct reflection of the game, we should have lost by a bigger margin,” said Ndlovu.

The defeat extended Bosso’s winless start in the 2019 season, but the coach is confident they will find their feet soon.

“It goes back to the season preparations, it will always catch up with you and today was a wake-up call to the team,” he said.

“But this doesn’t mean that we cannot win the championship, you can lose four games and still win the championship so do not count us out of the race yet,” Ndlovu added.
