UK-based Zimbabwean striker on the verge of achieving milestone

With one of the highest scoring rate for the past two seasons, England-based Zimbabwean striker Macauley Bonne is on the verge of hitting a milestone at his team, Leyton Orient.

The 23-year old forward is in line to make his 100th appearance for National League side this Friday against Harrogate Town.

Something that will also make the night more special is the fact that he could get his 50th goal for the club. And last week he surpassed his best season tally in the league when he scored his 23rd goal to set a new personal best.

In 2018, he became the youngest ever Orient player to score twenty-five goals across all competitions in a single season and he looks set to go beyond that mark again.

All this has been achieved inside the two seasons he has been at Orient and speculation is rife that he could leave the club and join one of the many top sides – including Leicester City, Huddersfield and Leads – who have shown interest in him.

He joined the Leyton Orient in July 2017 from Colchester United on a two-year deal which he extended at the end of last year until 2020.

Should a move to any of these reported top clubs materialise, it will be a plus for the Zimbabwe national team for obvious reasons. He is expected to get his local passport which will enable him to feature at the upcoming 2019 Afcon tournament set for Egypt.
